SØS Gunver Ryberg is a Danish artist who works with soundscapes where sound-art and experimental techno meet. Her background from art and theatre is clearly present in her work, which is largely live and performance based, focusing on the atmosphere and culmination of the space, artist and audience. Since her first works on sound installations for the prestigious Charlottenburg exhibition in Copenhagen in 2005, she has developed her skills through work with the indie-game company Playdead and travels to both the coal mines of remote Svalbard and the shaman musicians of South Korea. These impressions come together in an expansive sound with aggressive rhythms fronting massive compositions.
Ryberg was discovered in 2014 by Contort, a Berlin based label, leading to gigs at both the Boiler Room and a showcase at the Berlin Atonal festival. Her first release, AFTRYK, was released in 2016 and was nominated for the album of the year by Danish Deejay Awards 2017.
This concert is a part of the Nordic Cultural Fund's puls project.
